Collective Worship ( Assembly)

Children in Key Stage one have daily collective worship – which we call assembly.

Monday: Choral Worship – Ms L Broadley we learn new songs with actions and talk about the meaning of them. We also reflect on something related to our term’s theme.

Tuesday: Teachers lead a class reflection time based on our termly theme.

Wednesday: Mrs Lax leads assembly related to our theme or a current issue.

Thursday: Teachers lead a class reflection time based on our termly theme.

Friday: Mrs Lax leads Golden Assembly we celebrate achievements of the week and birthdays. We also take time to reflect on the weekly theme.

Once a term we have a visit from Neil or Mark from Christchurch our local church. Our themes are:
  • Term1 New Beginnings Term 2 Getting on and falling out –including special anti bullying assemblies Term 3 Going for goals Term 4 Good to be me Term 5 Relationships Term 6 Changes Assemblies include –stories, short films, role play and talks. We often include paired talk so the children have an opportunity to discuss and embed ideas.

The 1944 education act provides for parents to withdraw children from RE on religious grounds. Children who are withdrawn will be supervised by a member of staff and given an alternative task
