Term 1 Dazzle Days – ‘Harvest Around the World’
Marble Treat – An Afternoon Tea Party

Year 1 walked to The Memorial Park to look for signs of autumn. We found conkers, acorns, fungi and plenty of yellow, orange and brown leaves.

We learnt about harvest in China and how the Chinese celebrate the Autumn Moon. We made our own ‘Moon Cakes’ and put inside messages of thanks.

We had a talk from Mark Davey about Christianity and Harvest at Christ Church.

The Monkeys found out lots about Under the Sea and have even been encouraged to eat and try more fish dishes.

All children were thrilled to get up close and personal with sea creatures such as crabs, King Tiger prawns and Dover Sole.

We had to learn afternoon tea etiquette.First, we chose where to sit with our friends, then used a napkin to protect our clothes and catch any crumbs.

We shared the food with our friends and all contributed by bringing goodies in.The tea included tuna and cucumber sandwiches, crisps, cakes and biscuits and plenty of fresh fruit.

Afternoon teas are a very social occasion so we had polite conversations at our table. We were careful not to talk with our mouths full and we definitely said please and thank you!

We only took a few items at each time to ensure that everybody had a selection to choose from. When our plates were empty, we took a few more items.
