My name is Heidi Burns and I am the school’s Pastoral Child and Family Worker.

I help to support families and carers of the children who attend Herne Bay Infant and Nursery School, this could be by offering an ear to listen, advice or signposting to other services that can help with a wide range of issues or difficulties that can affect family life with young children.

I also help to support children’s wellbeing during the school day. Having some dedicated one to one time, gives children the ideal opportunity to be able to open up about their thoughts and feelings.  I also run Calm Club at lunchtimes so that children who are struggling with the noise, energy and excitement of outside play, have a quieter indoor space to use if needed.

I have trained with Educational Psychologists and am a qualified ELSA (Emotional Literacy Support Assistant) which enables me to hold 1:1 interventions or group sessions for children who may be struggling in areas such as emotional regulation, anger management, low self-esteem, loss and bereavement, friendships issues and more. If you feel this could benefit your child please speak to your class teacher who can refer. Please note spaces may be limited.
